It is with great sadness the family of Donald Robert Legge of Garnish announce his passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on September 26, 2022, at the age of 71 years.
Leaving to mourn with precious memories loving wife of 50 years Dona Legge; son Dion Legge (Melanie); daughter Karla Tucker (Devin); grandchildren Nicolas Legge, Matthew Legge, Mark Wiscombe (Heather), Lucas Legge (Kaitlyn), Chase Tucker, Natalie Tucker; great-granddaughter Charlotte Rose; brother Ludwick (Rowena); sister Betty Simmons and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Predeceased by parents Robert & Susan Legge, brothers Donald Legge, Bruce Legge; sisters Ernestine Cheeseman (Harvey), Martha Inkpen (Don); parent-in-laws Samuel & Rebecca Foote; sister-in-laws Barbara Drake, Jean Gosling (Dennis), brother in law Ross Simmons.
As a young boy he grew up in Garnish playing Soccer, one of his favorite things to do. He loved his family dearly and took great pride in his grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew him, especially his wife Dona who was the love of his life.
Don enjoyed his job at the Marystown Shipward where he worked a number of years. He was an incredibly hard worker and a good natured man, who was always willing to share a joke. He spent many hours fly tying and was an avid salmon fisherman. Don will be remembered for his love and devotion to the people closest to him. He was admired by all who knew him and he had a smile that lit up the room.
In keeping with Don’s wishes cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Our heartfelt thanks to the St. Lawrence Longterm Care Facility and the workers who included him on their many "take out" runs. Also to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre who cared for him in his final days.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to the St. Lawrence Longterm Care Facility.
