Obituary of Gordon Walter Francis

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gordon Walter Francis announce his passing at his residence in Burin on Monday January 06, 2025 at the age of 86. 

Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his daughters Donna Francis (Frankie)of Marystown, Trina Corcoran of CBS, Roxanne Stacey, son in law Fred of Churchill Falls, son Merrill Hodder, daughter in law Maureen of Burin; grandsons Gordon Francis(Vanessa Cluett)of St Johns, Shannon Francis (Jody Belben) of Grand Falls, Jayden Corcoran of CBS, granddaughter Cathy Gosse (Berard) of St. John’s, great grandsons Nathan Francis and Cade Francis; brother Jim Francis (Isabel) of Port au Bras, sisters in law Joy Mitchell (Albert) of Creston South; his special neighbours Susan & Frazer Strowbridge, Lester Power and Cathy & Randell Evans plus a large circle of family and friends.

Predeceased by his wife Mabel Francis, mother Alice Francis sisters Jessie Antle, Beverly Fudge, Mildred Francis, Jean Antle, Judy Lundrigan, Mary Pardy, Rita Blagdon and Alma Ackerman, brother John Francis, mother in law Winnifred Hodder and father in law William Hodder, sister in laws Madge, Evans(Merrill), Shirley Nichol and Myrtle Hodder

Dad was a kind  gentle man. He always had a smile for everyone. He worked hard and never required much in life. His family was his world. He grew up in Port Au Bras and later when he met the love of his life he moved to Salmonier. He worked at FPI in Burin and later in Marystown. He always loved reminiscing about days gone by. We will miss you forever Dad. 

Donations may be made in his memory to Holy Trinity Anglican Church or Hodders Point cemetery fund.

Family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 and Thursday January 9, 2025 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM.

Funeral service to take place Friday January 10, 2025 2PM at Serenity Funeral Home Burin with interment following Holy Trinity Anglican cemetery, Hodders Point.
