Obituary of Melinda Hatcher
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Melinda Hatcher of Marystown announces her sudden passing at home, at the age of 70.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her daughters, Trina Byrde (Jim Manning) of Burin, Krista Hatcher of Marystown, and Sheranda Hatcher (John Turner) of Marystown; grandchildren, Keshia (Gardner) of Nova Scotia, Ocean (Cody) of St. John’s, Micoya (Andrew), Landin, Dakota, and Joshua; sisters, Daphne Matthews (Robert) of Burin, Kelly Byrde of Marystown, and Ada Hickey (Charles) of Terrenceville; and brother, Will Byrne (Carolann) of St. John’s plus a large circle of extended family and friends
Melinda was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Emmanuel - whom she loved dearly and lost in June. Also predeceased by her mother Mary; father Freeman; and brother Rodney
Melinda lived a life dedicated to those she loved most - her family. She loved to spend her time with her daughter and shadow, Krista. She also enjoyed cheering on the Montreal Canadiens (and cursing on them when they’d lose). Thursday nights were always Bingo nights to Melinda which she treasured, win or lose.
She was so loving and proud of all her grandchildren. They surely were the light of her life. She loved to see them and hear from them in any capacity - whether it be a phone call, a visit, or a sleepover.
Melinda was the center of our world. She was the best Nanny Hatcher, the best mother, and the best friend anyone could have ever asked fo. She will be so immensely and immeasurably missed by all who knew her, and we know she is happily spending Christmas with Emmanuel in heaven.
In honouring Melinda’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Melinda’s memory may be made to the family.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin.
