Obituary of Agnes Power
It is with great sadness that the family of Agnes Power of Burin announce her passing at Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on July 1, 2023 at the age of 70 years.
Leaving to mourn her partner of 50 years Fred Brown; daughters Gail Mugford (Evan) of St. John’s and Kayla Brown (Tyson Smith) of St. John’s; great grandchildren Jaxson, Ryder and Rori; sisters Marion (George Doody), Maude Burke, Alice (Wayne Turpin) and Violet Farrell; brothers Hubert (Nora), Martin (Velma), Anthony Sr. (Ida), Mike, Paul (Maureen), and Cecil (Carol) plus a large circle of other family and friends.
For those who did not know Agnes, though she be but little, she was mighty. A true fighter who battled cancer for 10 years and overcame it. Agnes wore her smile daily, contagiously spreading smiles and laughter to those who shared in her company. She found immense joy in surrounding herself with friends and family, sharing a game of cards, darts, or playing her favorite game, Texas hold’em. She faithfully participated in Chase the Ace and won many a game on her favorite scratch tickets. Agnes had a love for reading where she could often be found spending hours sitting in her favorite spot on the couch lost in the words of her book while sipping on a cup of tea.
In her younger years Agnes and Fred spent their summers in Fresh Pond camping with their kids and surrounded by their tremendous circle of friends. Agnes loved to be outside in the fresh air, whether it be trouting during the day or sharing a glass of whiskey around the fire at night. She made it easy to be her friend, overflowing with happiness and a zest for life. Her daughters’ friends would become her friends too. She was a mother figure to all her girls’ friends, whether sharing stories of days gone past with them, or providing her never-ending list of remedies to cure whatever may ail you.
Agnes loved many of the thing’s life had to offer, but nothing more than her husband Fred, her daughters Gail and Kayla, and most of all, her pride and joy, her precious Grandchildren Jaxson, Ryder and Rori. She was so special to so many people and she will be always loved, never forgotten, and forever missed. Her memory will live on in the smiles on her Grandchildren’s faces.
In keeping with her wishes Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Daffodil Place.
