It is with broken hearts the family of Frederick (Fred Joe) Coombs of Grand Bank announce his passing on Wednesday October 6th, 2021 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center at the age of 93 years.
Leaving to mourn with loving and precious memories wife Harriett of 68 years; children Fred Coombs Jr. (Nellie), Corella Coombs, Calvin Coombs (Pauline), Geraldine (Joe); grandchildren Sherry, Wanda, Jane, Joanne, Alex, Calvin Jr, Dylan, Chelsea, Justin; great-grandchildren Christian, Owen, Madison, Jamie, Layla, Thomas, Payton, Benjamin, Emerson, Charlie, Amelia, Jake plus a large circle of other family and friends.
Predeceased by son Tom Coombs, daughter-in-law Regina Coombs, grandson Bradley Coombs; great-granddaughter Alexandra Somerton; sisters Gillette Mcacharen, Elizabeth Mckinnon, Agnes Pardy, Priscilla Hynes, Sarah Clarke and Kathleen Clarke; son-in-law Lloyd Rideout.
Fred Joe leaves to mourn a large circle of family and friends. He was the life of the party and could be seen dancing with anyone that would dance with him. He was always the first one on the floor and last one to stop dancing every Saturday night.
He made his living working away with CP rail and loved working with CP rail was proud of his work, until he wanted to be home with his loving family. He started working in the fish plant in Grand Bank from August 1967 until his retirement.
He is being welcomed and reunited with his son Tom and grandson Bradley Coombs.
In keeping with Covid restrictions there will be a walk through visitation Thursday, October 7th from 4-9PM and Friday 2- 4PM and 7-9PM at Serenity Funeral Home, Grand Bank.
In Keeping with Covid 19 restrictions everyone must wear a mask, sanitize and sign in when entering the funeral home. No food or beverages permitted. Thanking you in advance for respecting the regulations. Together we can do this.
Funeral Mass will take place from St. Elizabeth RC Church, Lord’s Cove on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 10am with interment following at RC Cemetery, Lord’s Cove.
