Obituary of Jim Earl Abbott

Please share a memory of Jim to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness the family of Jim Earl Abbott of Port au Bras announce his passing on July 22, 2022 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center at the age of 63 years.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife of 37 years Daisy; son Jimmy (Lisa Clarke) of Black Duck Cove; daughters Terri-Lynn (James Gardiner) of BC and Kimberley Abbott (Frankie Lundrigan) of Burin; grandchildren James, Brandy (Brandon), Evan, Ronnie, Laycee and Olivia; brothers George Will Abbott, Calvin Abbott (Juanita), Gary Abbott (Hope), Cyril Abbott (Sheila), Ernest Abbott (Lillian) and Joseph Abbott (Beatrice); sisters Goldie Farewell (James), Florence Trowbridge (Robert), Mary Abbott (George), Irene Smith (Fred) and Marie Skinner (Albert) plus a large circle of other family and friends.

Predeceased by brother Frank; sisters Gertie and Alma and parents Ernest and Annie Hartson.

Jim started dating Daisy when he was 18 years old and  after 8 years they finally married and was married 37 years but he was with her for 45 years in total. Needless to say when they met they had a lifelong love for each other. Together they had 3 children  and 6 grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He was a friend to many, a great brother to his siblings and always could be counted on to give a helping hand, you only had to ask.  He always loved a crowd and music, he came from a family of 19 so I guess he was always use to a crowd. Jim was "a jack of all trades" he could take his hand to anything. He was a very strong and determined man after doing 4 chemo treatments he still was in the woods cutting his winter's wood with his son Jimmy. He fought his battle with cancer for over a year with strength and determination never one to give up but he finally lost the battle but no one can ever say without a good fight. His family will never forget his love for them and will always be remembered for his strength.

"The music stopped but the melody never ends."
