Obituary of Eleanor Maude Kenway

It is with sadness that the family of Eleanor Maude Kenway (Hodder) announce her peaceful passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 at the age of 86 years.

Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her 4 children; daughter Christine Broomfield (Bill) of Winterland; sons, Morley (Nancy Wiscombe) of Winterland, Albert (Sherry Grandy) of Mount Pearl and Chesley (Debbie Cribb) of Winterland; grandchildren Andy Broomfield (Andrea), Amanda Broomfield (Warren), Janelle Kenway (Bren), Gaetan Kenway (Frances), Adam Kenway (Candace), Morgan LeMoine (Mark), Jessica Kenway (Greg) and Caitlin Kennedy (Terry); great grandchildren Tyler Hanlon, Douglas Hanlon, Noah Hanlon, Sophie Kenway, Kennedy Broomfield, Cruz Broomfield, Andi Rae Belliveau, Jack LeMoine, Benjamin LeMoine, Georgia Abbott and Ellie Jane Abbott; 8 sisters; 3 brothers,brother in law Heber Kenway( Grace) of Winterland and a large circle of other family and friends.

Predeased by her husband Albert Kenway; parents Frank and Jane Hodder; brother Ladner (Bud) Hodder and infant brother William Thomas.

Special thanks to her homecare workers Jessie Cleal, Annie Newport and Mona Marshall, and to the staff at the Marystown Retirement Centre and the Burin Health Care Centre for their care and compassion shown to our mom.

Eleanor served in her church as organist and a member of the UCW for many years. She also served in her community as a town councilor and in the wider community with the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation Auxillary and the School Breakfast Program.

The Kenway family will be accepting visitors at Serenity Funeral Home, Salt Pond on Wednesday August 4, 2021 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm.

All visitors must sign in and sign out for contact tracing purposes, and masks must be worn at all times. Hand sanitizer will be provided and is to be used upon entering and exiting the building. No food or beverages. Thanking you in advance for respecting the regulations. Together we can do this.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday August 5th, 2021 at 2pm from Grace United Church in Winterland followed by interment at Grace United Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace United Church Winterland, Box 24 Winterland, NL A0E 2Y0.
