I am so sorry for the loss. I remember my uncle Newman because he was married to my aunt Claire, and he have a son Christopher Grandy who is my cousin. Christopher lives in Repentigny, Quebec. He went down to Garnish to meet and see Newman few years ago. Christopher is the real portrait of Newman. This is really sad. Sincere Condolences

I had the pleasure of working with Newman in the early 1980's as a river guardian on the Garnish river system. I was in my early 20's and Newman was in his mid 40's so do the math ! We would spend several days at a stretch together, back before cells, Skype, Face book and in most locations any form of radio signal at all. We were only 10 or 15 miles from any town at any time, but we were isolated from the events of the outside world. Notice I never even mentioned television or for that matter electricity. We would spend endless long summer days monitoring the angling activity of those who ventured to our little river system, insuring the mutual respect of this great sport. I learned a lot from Newman and went on to make a career in conservation and protection of aquatic and marine resources. The simple lessons learnt from Newman and his outlook on life have stayed with me ever since. If there is a crib board in Heaven, I hope I get a chance to sit across from him some day and play another "Sunday Decider" with him. And Newman would probably say " I fails to believe you have much of a chance of winning this one". Rest in Peace Newman :)
