Obituary of Mary Melita Power

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Mary Melita Power of Mortier, age 82, at Placentia Health Center on Monday, July 3, 2017. 

Predeceased by her husband Alphonsus Power (1999); her parents John and Elizabeth Planke; son Andrew, brothers Patrick, Sam and sister Caroline; grandson William,  daughter-in-law Marlene Power.

Leaving to mourn her sons Micheal (Jane), Gregory (Veronica), Alphonsus, George (Faye), Lester (Elizabeth) and Cyril (Cathy); brother John (Emily); sister Emily Antle; grandchildren Nicole, Natasha, Melissa, Jenna, Christopher,Greg, Krystal, Jennifer, David and AJ; Great- grandchildren Cody, Nicholas, Blake, Lawrence, Jaden, Kenedi, Blaire and Parker, Alexa, Jensen, Aynslie and Myah. Also leaving to mourn special friends, Angela and Phil Picco, Gert Brown, Pauline Meade, Bert Wilcott and sister in law Carmel Planke, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

We would like to express our gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Placentia Health Centre, Lion’s Manor Nursing Home and Marystown Retirement Center for their care, kindness and compassion. 

The family will be receiving family and friends on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, from 2pm to 9pm, Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 10 am – 9 pm. and Thursday July 6, 2017 from 10 am – 9 pm  at Serenity Funeral Home, 95 Main St, Burin.

Funeral Mass to take place from St. Patrick's RC Church, Burin  on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10am with interment following at Sacred Heart RC Cemetery, Fox Cove.

Flowers gratefully accepted.
